Education in Ghana for children who need it most

High-quality education is for everyone, not just those who can afford it. Our school, based in Saltpond, Ghana, educates children who would otherwise have no other schooling.

Our students mostly live in beach huts or derelict, overcrowded buildings. They often have only one parent, and some are sadly orphaned. The SEP Happy School offers these children another chance. From primary education up to the end of junior high school, we provide fee-free education to those who need it most, helping to break the cycle of poverty that often afflicts fishing communities in Ghana.

Dynamic teaching

We provide regular training to ensure that our teaching is innovative and inspiring. We want the students at our Happy school to be actively engaged in their learning, whether it’s learning through play, using phonics for reading and writing, or using modelling resources in maths.

Education beyond the classroom

We aim to provide a well-rounded education that supports our students in all areas of their lives. From school trips to swimming lessons to vocational apprenticeships, we ensure that students get out of the classroom at every opportunity.

A healthy, safe and happy environment

SEP is more than just a school; we are a community, sometimes, even a family. From free school meals to free medical insurance; find out how we keep our students healthy, safe and happy to ensure the best outcomes for them.

“Saltpond Education Project is dear to my heart. It has had a huge impact on the educational values of the children in the community, helping them to achieve their dreams.”
